Top Tips for Finding a Job: Applications and Interviews

Top Tips for Finding a Job Issue No.4

Application Forms

Some employers will ask that you fill out an application form for a position.

This is normally a number of fixed questions which you must answer. Think carefully about how to answer each question, and do make sure you answer all of them. If you are handwriting the form, make sure you have spare copies, it is better to re write than have corrected errors on the page. Have someone else read the application to check for mistakes or make suggestions for answers. When you have completed the application you should get a photocopy of it before you send it in to the employer because if you are asked to attend for interview you will need to review what you answered on the form as you will likely be asked about your answers in the interview.
