Where can I hear about job openings?
Newspapers and Radio
Some companies advertise job vacancies on the radio or in the newspaper.
Also it may help to be proactive and if you hear news such as a new company opening up or expanding: you can contact the company directly to ensure you are ready to apply when the jobs become available.
Internet job sites
In recent years more and more vacancies are being advertised online. On most job websites you can search by the sector you are interested in, or the location where you would prefer to work. You can also search for specific companies and roles. If you do not have access to the internet you should be able to get free access to the internet at your nearest Library. Recruitment Agencies
Recruitment agencies work on behalf of companies to try and match their vacancies with the right people. Check the recruitment section of yellow pages or search online to locate recruitment agencies. Many have local offices on main streets in towns.
Companies Websites
Sometimes the first place a company will advertise any vacancies they have is on their own website. If you know of local companies that may be hiring or you would like to work for, check if they have a vacancies section on their website.
FAS Office
The local FÁS office in Navan has listings of job openings. FÁS also have an online search facility to browse through job vacancies. FÁS also have a career advice online tool called Career Directions: www.careerdirections.ie
